An animatic is a crucial step in the video production process that bridges the gap between a storyboard and shot timing. Essentially, it’s a rough draft or a preliminary version of your video that combines the storyboard images with sound effects, voiceovers, and music to create a moving sequence. This allows you to visualise the timing, pacing, and overall flow of the video before moving into production.
We create animatics during the pre-production phase once the storyboard is approved. Clients are able to submit feedback on the animatic via our video feedback software prior to final approval.
Why an animatic is so important:
- Visual Flow: See how shots transition from one to another.
- Timing and Pacing: Understand the duration of each shot and how each scene fits together.
- Audio Integration: Incorporate voiceovers, sound effects, and background music to show how the final video will come to life..
- Feedback and Revisions: Identify and make necessary changes early in the video production process, saving time and resources.
Animatics are invaluable for aligning the creative vision with client expectations, ensuring everyone is on the same page before moving forward to video production. This step not only helps in fine-tuning the narrative but also in spotting potential issues such as shot length and messaging.
